Over the weekend, we shot Seth's senior portraits. We followed him to the horse farm where he works for some shots that really said who he was: one of the good ole boys!

Evan's Senior Portraits!!!
Evan is one of those great kids with one great passion. Music! He knew exactly what he wanted his portraits to convey, his love of music! As with most young men, they're not very crazy about having portraits taken, so we were brief, but he loved them, which made mom and me very happy!

Signature Boards!!!
Everyone has a guest book that is signed when you walk into the church, right? But what happens to that guest book after your big day? It gets tucked away into a box along with the fancy pen and cake topper, or, if it's lucky, into a curio cabinet to gather dust. How about something fun that can be on your wall for everyone to see long after the vows have been spoken? Our signature boards are a great addition to the items used on one of the most special days of your life! Printed on high quality photo paper and backed with artboard for protection, your guests and friends will be able to write a personal message that is sure to be treasured (and viewed) for years! Our signature boards come in 11x14, 16x20 (our standard size), or 20x24. We can completely customize your board depending on the number of images you want! For more information on our signature boards or our wedding packages, email us at angie@thompsonsportraitphotography.com

Josh & Karla's Wedding!!!
Friday, we had the honor of photographing the wedding of Josh & Karla. At Elizabeth Brown Memorial Park in Wytheville, they proclaimed their love in front of family and friends in a casual and elegant ceremony! Driving off from the ceremony in a Virginia Tech golf and arriving later to Enter Sandman by Metallica (loved it!), everyone partied the night away! Here are some of my favorite images from their day! OH! Like the bride's hoodie? I know I did! It's part of Victoria's Secret Bridal Collection!

A tip for brides...
When going to the salon for hair and makeup, wear a button up shirt! This goes for the bridesmaids also! It makes getting out of your street clothes so much easier that having to fight to get a comfy Tshirt over an elaborate hair do!

Photography and Copyrights...
With so many people having portraits taken this time of year between seniors and weddings, I wanted to touch base on something that effects everyone involved. That is photos and copyrights. I know many of my customers will scan my photos to put on their myspace and such. This is fine by me and I would love it if they made a little notation about where the portraits were taken. But this doesn't always happen, which is fine too. But one thing that really hurts us photographers is when our images are scanned or pulled from websites and printed without our permission. Not only does this hurt our business, it is illegal. It is called copyright infringement.
A copyright gives the creator of an image full rights to the image they create, including monetary compensation (every image that I use on my studio website is only used with permission by the subject). The cost of infringing on a copyright can be astronomical. Below is a link providing information on what is and is not acceptable concerning images.

You must also be careful of images that have been taken as far back as the early 1900's. Most photo kiosks (Walmart, CVS, Ritz, etc) will not print anything that looks remotely professional. And in most cases will require you to locate the orininal photographer or their descendants before you can make copies of an image! My mother in law had this problem with a picture from her parents' wedding day that was taken in front of the courthouse where they were wed!

David & Dianna's Wedding!!!
Yesterday was David and Dianna's wedding. At a little country church, with the bride and bridesmaids barefoot, they tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony! We got some great formal shots (well if you call the Charlie's Angels pose formal) then took off to the Galax Golf Club for the reception. Flat footing and line dancing the night away, everyone had a ball! Here are some of my favorites!

Aaron's Bridal portraits...
We shot Aaron's bridal session a while back at the Davis Bourne Inn in Independence. She is such a beautiful woman and didn't take a bad portrait! We had such a good time in between the rain showers and I think they turned out very well! What do you think?
